GANGTOK, June 2: A resident of Lingmoo has today blamed the carelessness on the part of the doctor and lack of equipment at STNM Hospital for the death of his two and half month child.
“I lost my son due to the carelessness of the doctor and nurses at STNM,” YP Chettri said.
Talking to media persons, Chettri said that although his child was admitted in the Pediatrics Ward of the hospital on May 28 with bouts of fever, doctors neither updated him of the condition of the child nor talked about referring to other hospitals.
The infant died at around 9:30 am today.
Aggrieved with the loss of his child, Chettri also alleged that doctors and nurses refused to come when he called them in times of emergency.
When reporters asked Pediatrician Dr CK Nepal’s comment on the issue, the latter stated that he was not authorised to speak to the press and media.
