Gangtok, 25 June: Deorali Girls Senior Secondary School, Gangtok,
observed the "10 Minutes to Earth" with a plantation drive, role
play and awareness rally in the town. At the outset, the school family carried
out a plantation drive in the school campus under the guidance of the principal
along with DFO Territorial Mr. Nambi Bhutia. Saplings of Azalea and Cherry
plants were planted in the name of the retired teachers of the school who
retired this year.
The members of Environmental
Health Club (EHC) presented a short role play on the theme “Plant Trees and
Protect Our Environment” and an environment health based song. Afterwards, the
EHC and DNA Club of the school took out a rally from Deorali Taxi Stand to
Sikkim Police Headquarter creating awareness on environment among the general
public. The rally dispersed back at the school which also had active
participation of the teachers and other students.
